Will Dance 4 …
Our hope is that no one will be denied the opportunity to dance. We wish to recognize dancers and dance groups for achievement in dance and strive to provide the dance community with a way to recognize their peers. Our goal is to help dancers and dance groups raise money for their charitable endeavors and charitable causes close to them.
About Will Dance 4
Will Dance 4 … is an organization under the Footlights umbrella dedicated to helping the dance community through social entrepreneurship.
As it says above our hope is that no one will be denied the opportunity to dance. We wish to recognize dancers and dance groups for achievement in dance, and strive to provide the dance community with a way to recognize their peers. Our goal is to help dancers and dance groups raise money for their charitable endeavors and charitable causes close to them.
This effort is a dream for Joy Ellis, owner of Footlights Dance and Theatre Boutique. Joy has been an avid supporter of the arts community in Frederick, Silver Spring and all the surrounding communities. It is Footlights’ goal to give back to an art that has helped us thrive.
The Thomas F Waters Memorial Fund
Tom Waters was an inspirational dance instructor who taught in Frederick County for 50 years! In May of 2010, at the age of 62, he passed away due to complications from early on-set Alzheimer’s. A benefit was held in his honor at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in the summer of 2010. This was also the debut screening of the Tom Waters Documentary. Proceeds from the benefit were used to start the Thomas F. Waters Memorial Fund held at the Community Foundation of Frederick County. A portion of the proceeds was also donated to the Frederick County Alzheimer’s Association. This fund will provides scholarships to dancers at Frederick County dance studios who need help with tuition and supplies, and will also be used to fund Alzheimer programs here in Frederick County. Joy Ellis & Footlights nominated Thomas F. Waters for the Frederick County Arts Hall of Fame. Tom was inducted into the Arts Hall of Fame on October 19th, 2011.
